the conflux

a wide shot of the school's theatre, drawn in blues and purples. ruth and richie are sitting at the edge of the stage as grace and pete look on from the entrance.

GRACE: Thank gosh, there they are!

pete is now sitting on the stage with ruth. she holds pete's hand and grabs his arm, worried. next to him, grace is about to hop on the stage, smiling proudly.

RUTH: Are you guys okay!?

PETE: Yeah… I think Grace saved our lives. Did you run into anyone glitching on your way here?

RICHIE: We passed Miss Mulberry but she just yelled at us to stop running in the hallway.

PETE: I’m glad. Let me tell you about the shit we just went through…

steph and max sit together. steph is speaking, angry at herself.

STEPH: I was so close to throwing myself at Reese. That was really stupid.

max gives her a hesitant smile, a hand on her shoulder. steph smiles back.

MAX: Don’t be so hard on yourself, Steph. I know what this feels like, and Mr. Keane tells me not to keep thinking about stuff that’s in the past. You didn’t do it, so you’re chill. Y'know?

STEPH: Yeah. Thanks, Max.

MAX: Plus, I dunno if that was really Reese, so… maybe she deserved it?

as glitch particles fade away, steph rubs the back of her head. she's wearing flannel now. max stands behind her, torn plastic wrapped around his legs.

PETE: Holy shit! Steph, are you good?

PETE: Wait… Max?

gif of a pan up from max's shoes to his head, revealing that he is his ghost form from nerdy prudes must die.

GRACE: …Holy fuck.

full shot of max's entire body. he is pale, with a sunken face and dark eyes that glow blue. there is a hole in his chest, in which a blue heart is floating. he's grinning with sharp teeth. blue veins are visible on his neck and hands, which have pointed fingers. ripped plastic is wrapped around his arms and legs. there's dirt on his shoes.
